Education & Outreach

The Vermilion County SWCD also works to provide educational opportunities to the public. Some past and present efforts of the district are listed below:

The Vermilion County SWCD partners with neighboring county SWCDs as part of Land Use Council 7 to sponsor the Envirothon, a high school environmental education competition. Teams of high school students compete in the subject areas of wildlife, aquatics, soils and forestry.  Winning teams can advance to state and national competitions. 

• The SWCD serves as a resource to local schools and can provide educational tools such as an Enviroscape and a Rainfall Simulator for environmental education.

• The SWCD also provides general conservation information, conservation and agricultural tours, and educational workshops on a variety of topics.
